A Joint Project between the national cardiology institute / Tec de Monterrey / GSE Biomedical was formed in order to develop a new Stent. An initial design was developed, and COMPLX was brought to optimize their current proposal.
After the optimization process the new configuration obtained by COMPLX exhibited an average of 43% increase on all FDA mechanical performance parameters.
The complete report by GSE-Biomedical can be found Here
Initial Configuration
The variables to be optimize were the FDA mechanical performance parameter: Radial force, radial strength, radial shortening, axial shortening, percentage of are.
Objective
Initial Design was to be discretized on ANSYS, and the evaluate the mechanical parameter performance. Once the baseline was setup, a geometry based optimization was performed.
Optimized Model
Base on sound engineering advice, parameters were modified and a new improved design was obtained.
